Too much ESPN/TV money in the crappy bowels right now...its the only thing keeping them afloat with their trouble in getting sponsors and selling tickets, but then again if their subscriptions keep dropping and that gets cut back it may finally cut the number of bad bowls out there.

That being said, I would expect player personnel people and coaches to strongly discuss what their stance is on this trend with players as it pertains to their evaluation. If you take Pete's expectation of everybody competing McCaffrey's actions come across as being contrary to that ... I could see this being something that could knock a player down on some draft boards. -

The powers that be didn't want the playoff to denigrate the regular season and it hasn't with only four teams. It has however just made bowl games pointless and stupid. If they expand the playoffs to eight teams it will make both the regular season and all exhibitions pointless and stupid, just like college basketball.
As an Oregon fan I could care less we didn't make a bowl game. I was fucking pissed that we weren't ever in the conversation for the playoffs this year. What does playing NIU in El Paso or San Diego or wherever in late December do to change that? -
