One of the reasons I hate the admin at UW so much is a few years ago I was a guest instructor at the ROTC program ---they were going to put a Pappy Boyington statue up (millenials, google Baa-Baa Blacksheep), but it got shot down out of concern it would offend the Japanese folk. Fuck me.

That's why you have that rock thingy by the ROTC building and not a statue of an alumni and true American badass. Although I will admit, I do like the rock memorial, but why not abundance?

BTW, little known trivia --- UW has the HIGHEST number of medal of honor winners of any school in the country other than the service academies. There have been 8 including "Snake Shit" Bruce Crandall played by Greg Kinnear in the movie we were Soldiers. One of the highlights of my life was meeting him when I was a young LT in the 7th Cav.
