    We miss Woodward like fucking syphilis. Oregon is 6-6 next year if they're lucky.

    Two thoughts, frens.

    One, this rumor about Knight paying Helfrich's $11.4M buyout and then turning around and paying a new HC $10M/yr is pure fantasy. That's an insane amount of money to spend, no matter how rich you are. Plus, Knight is almost 80 years old; any new hire would be expected to still be there long after Knight is dead and buried. Where is the $$$ going to come from to continue paying that kind of salary long-term?

    Two, Petersen only turned down about a hundred job offers while at Boise. Money is not his primary motivator, and Washington pretty perfectly fits the things he was looking for in a last job. With the season UW is having relative to Petersen's salary (only 25th highest in the country currently), he's clearly due for a handsome extension. But knowing how he ticks, I'd wager he also leverages this kind of talk into big staff raises to fend away poachers.
