I enjoyed the article especially the "at this point I don't know how we got petersen and I don't much care" part.
Suggestion: you should include gifs in your articles (created by our grundlegifskin of course) - I think visual examples would create traffic for curious outsiders go ogling "huskies" or "chris petersen" etc, etc.

Maybe this makes it easier to understand... if UW calls timeout with say 12 seconds to go, Cal would have been forced to punt because they don't want to turnover the ball at midfield and give UW a chance to throw a hail mary. Short version... UW should have called a timeout because that was a detail to pay attention to.
