but....but...but...ESPN said a two loss Auburn team would probably make the playoff if they won out!!!!

after the self-fulfilling prophecy that was the 2011 championship game, i'm surprised more people don't call them out for their bullshit
bama going on an all-time run has clouded how mediocre the conference really has been (and NCAA as a whole, of course) the past few years.
sold out stadiums, ESPN finance-driven agendas, and high production CBS/ABC broadcasts get simpletons to suck them off, but 80% of that conference is dreck. same as all of the other conferences.

They would. Rather easily, in fact.Fire_Marshall_Bill said:but....but...but...ESPN said a two loss Auburn team would probably make the playoff if they won out!!!!

Now likely a three loss LSU since they were close to Bama -

I'm not arguing. It's not like they would be deserving though unless a bunch of teams lost a bunch of games.TierbsHsotBoobs said:

The only ranking that matters is the one after the conference championships.doogsinparadise said:Boobs hates preseason rankings bullshit unless it's sec preseason rankings bullshit.

Look around. There are seven Power 5 teams that have fewer than two losses with four weeks left. 11-2 Auburn would not be viable every year, but this year is an unholy fucking dreckfest.Fire_Marshall_Bill said:

It's a lot harder to go on a historic run if you have tuff conference games. USC with Carroll didn't either. Once Harbaugh and Kelly had there programs rolling he bounced. Urban Meyer left early in Saban'a tenure at Alabama.Gladstone said:after the self-fulfilling prophecy that was the 2011 championship game, i'm surprised more people don't call them out for their bullshit

The SEC has never been better than anyone else. They just aren't stupid about it. The one thing they do have are elite, black defensive lineman, but their QB play is usually mediocre.
They don't like to travel outside of their region. They don't like to play away games. They'll always schedule a win if possible. They either have a bye or a tune up before their big games.
The fog of packed stadiums and extreme fanaticism gives the perception that they are just better than everyone else.
