Could @CoachPeteUW sink Husky Football by not allowing his players to be interviewed by K-Grizzle, Roof the Troof, Spicoli Jr. from the Times, Art Thiel and other titans of the local media?

Is Ken onto something here?

    Bullshit on the media. I'll never forget when DJ told ESPN's Mark Schwartz to fuck off on air (words very close to that effect) after Schwartz reported an injury to one of the players and said something less than complimentary about our Dawgs.

    James kicked the media out of practice and closed access up until game time. (Over a week) Tick.Tick.Tick...

    Even without the media for a week, OUR Dawgs did fine, winning the Rosebowl and a share of the Natty.

    If Washington loses, you know Jude is going to ask if not allowing the players to interview cost UW the game. Of course, if they win, he will act like not making them available had no effect.

    Are you sure about that? He told me the story and it was when Cary Conklin injured his thumb. DJ asked the media to leave that out of their reports. But a local writer reported it and DJ got so mad he shut the media down. I can't remember how long.

    Is this the same story? Or are you referencing something different?

    Nope. Different story. It was Mark Schwartz and it was before the 1991 Rosebowl. Schwartz asked James a leading question (can't remember exactly what) James called him a jerk and went off. He kicked all the media out of practice and told them to blame Schwartz.

    Looked for a link but can't find it. It happened.

    I want to say it was the day after Christmas 1991 the team was in LA. Practicing at SC?
