Defensive Scheme Against Arizona: 2-5-4

The LBs were atrocious that game. Easily the worst game Victor and Bierria have had here. Arizona knew Psalm was a weakness and ran his side all game. Mathis was decent at best, but that's because he did well in the 2nd half after sucking in the first.

I gotta go back and watch, but I recall seeing the big 3 hogs out there a lot together. And Mathis and Wooching probably played their best games of the year.
The 3 big plays by Dawkins were on the entire D, not just those two. (see Vea and Baker on that cluster fuck pass defense in the 4th)
And the good news is our D is a much better match up vs. Stanford's style of play. -
A clear case of abundance. He sucks.Houhusky said:I was drunk (still am( but I remember Mathis actually playing pretty well...
Wooching is absolutely terrible, I cant tell if he is just really unatheltic, a pussy, or a fucking retard but if there is a run play called to his side he always either jumps way outside of the play to look like he is setting the edge and keeping contain but voluntarily takes himself out of the play because he just lets the blocker ride him way outside or he dives at the feet of the pulling OL or FB so he doesnt get hit hard and act as a speed bump or if he is zone coverage he does fuck all and runs backwards away from the play trying to get to "his" zone even though its clearly a run play.
BBK, Joyner, Rapeyes, constantine, or Cort Dennison would be an improvement over wooching. -
We ran the 2-5-4 most of the first half and a lot again in the second half. We switched out of it in the red zone and then saw more 3 down lineman sets in the second half but it was done throughout the game. It's a formation we trotted out a bit last year when we played spread teams with mobile QB's.

Any scheme with Psalm (with apologies to his wife who posts here: @PostGameOrangeSlices) is an awful scheme.
He's this year's Mickens. He is fucking awful.
