I lived in Owasso for a year. That's about as conservative as a non rural town gets. The school is going to get serious backlash for this.

When I taught at CSUS (Sac State go hornets!!) the only holiday we got during the school year was Ceaser Chavez day.
I'm not kidding. They banked all the other holidays to give the students a longer summer break.
I petitioned the Faculty Senate which I was a member to include Veterans Day or Memorial Day.
It got voted down 45-35.
I appealed to the University President. New guy and of Latin descent. He agreed that it was an unbalanced policy. Students at Sac State get one more day off. He's a good guy. And reasonable.
I thank me for my service.

They should take a page out of Jen's playbook by taking away student seating altogether and sell those tickets to big money donors instead. If it leaves a big budget shortfall, leave it to upper campus to deal with.
