I'm going to agree with CuntWaffle in another thread, number 2 all time. The science is settled IMHO.

I have a hard time putting him ahead of Russell. I think he's very strongly in consideration for #3.
I have a hard time putting him ahead of Kareem or Magic at this point ... Bird's spot is getting close to if not passed ...

Long way to go between Jordan/Russell and everybody else
I probably go Magic 3 LeBron 4 Kareem 5, but I think you can rank those 3 in any order and I wouldn't be too upset.

I would probably rank Magic ahead of Kareem as well (we are likely in the minority on that) because to me those Lakers championships were fueled by Magic with Kareem in the 1B role more often than not ...

In the end though, Kareem has more titles, more records, more longevity, etc ... we need to see where LBJ ends up there

Kareem was equally as genetically superior as a big as LBJ is as a wing ... we probably give LBJ too much credit in that due to recency bias

Kareem only has two NBA Finals MVP's, for me that's the biggest indicator of someone's dominance (LeBron now has 3). Assuming Kareem didn't lose one to some BS like Iguodala winning last year, that's the differentiator to me. That and the fact he only one won ring in four seasons with Big O, who's better than anyone LeBron ever played with.

I'm pretty comfortable with Kareem at 5. I think the Magic vs LeBron argument would be a good one.

That was an older version of O ... and there were some dominant teams in the league at that time ...

Biggest criticism of Kareem to me is that he never won without another alpha besides him ... he certainly isn't one of my favorites

Magic and Kareem aren't even the best Laker ever.

I heart me some Kobe, but I can't put him ahead of Magic.

Magic was 5 and 4 in the Finals. Lebron is 3 and 4 and counting. It's getting close. Magic played on better teams.

Why do we have to rank players all-time? Why can't we just be classy and pass the orange slices?

No one was dominant enough to have the league retire their number outright. Therefore, Wayne Gretzky is the greatest NBA player of all time. Followed by Pele.
