I'm also kind of over Ramsay - he's just too evil, there isn't anything interesting about his character anymore and his motivations seem to be just to be evil which is boring. -
First, you have the Umbers declaring JS and the Wildlings are marching on them before JS actually marches out. Then you have the letter to JS which is written to provoke him, and the Vale marching out. The letter doesn't seem out of the ordinary for Ramsay but it seems too much of a set up to ensure a batter. My money is on Littlefinger orchestrating the whole thing.

Last season he met with Cersei and made the deal that if he toppled the Boltons from Winterfell (using the knights of the vale), he would be named warden of the north. So he engineers the current situation so that he can overthrow the Boltons and take that power, and maybe try to wind up with Sansa as his wife because his perv obsession with her being the closest thing to Catelyn he'll ever get. -

I was pretty bummed that peaceful little children of the forest are now extinct to protect a loser parapalegic white fucker.
