Election Reform Thoughts
Eliminate caucuses. The entire process is a joke. It takes too long, and if people don't show up to more meetings, the delegates go to the other candidate, regardless of the voting of the people that showed up to cast their vote in the first place. Modern communication makes this process unnecessary.
Eliminate closed primaries. Voters should be able to vote for anyone they want. Making voters register almost a year in advance for a certain party (before candidates are even declared) is just an artificial system of voter suppression that serves no purpose.
Eliminate polling stations and switch everyone to mail-in ballots...OR make election day a national holiday so that people don't have to choose between work and voting. Or just stop closing polling stations so that people don't have to wait 5 hours to vote. Voting should not be difficult. Politicians should be forced to work for all Americans. Speaking of which...
Eliminate BS voter ID laws. Voter fraud is a non-issue. The anecdotes of dead people and illegals voting are old news, misleading, and statistically irrelevant. Especially compared to the number of American citizens that are disenfranchised by these intentionally obstructive laws.
Every state should have the same rules and the same system. The current system is unnecessary and inefficient. Not to mention outdated.

Both parties are private entities. Like it or not they can choose whatever method they want to put forth nominees. The processes both parties have adopted give voters a voice, but it's tempered to provide the party a significant voice in determining the nominee. Perhaps the most positive thing to come out of this election cycle is this generation of voters finally paying at least some attention to this and maybe starting to realize that both parties are about party and power first and foremost.
At the end of the day there is nothing binding you to vote for "your" party's nominee, unless all you care about is the brand and you need to see your brand's label at the top of the ticket. If you stand for socialism and want to vote for a socialist candidate, you could write Bernie in on your general election ballot. Bernie backers could also encourage him to run as a third party candidate. He's claimed to be an independent for most of the many decades he's been sucking on the public's tit, running as an independent third party candidate would be fitting and he wouldn't have to worry about accepting funds from those evil wall street and banking people who fund the DNC. #ABCfeeltheBern -

So you basically want to nationalize voting. In addition, you are hoping to allow people to vote as often as they want.
Mail in ballots, I could get behind that. It was very convenient to fill out the ballot in Oregon.
Like him, be indifferent to him, hate him ... Trump did one thing this election cycle. He exposed the parties for what they are.
People always knew money was king, but they didn't realize there was a king maker that could nullify their vote.

The common denominator of every problem you outlined is the two party system. In a multi-party system the democrats should have every right to make sure a candidate like Sanders, who has done very little for the party and its platform, doesn't get put on the ballot under their name. And of course the republicans have every right to make sure someone like Trump, who has done more harm than good to their party, doesn't get an R next to his name. Of course, how do you even begin to dismantle a party system that is so entrenched in our society? Fuck if I know.
