The only way a teacher would get fired on the first offense on a DUI, would be if they were transporting students at the time, or driving intoxicated on the school's property while children are present. Even the latter example would be a bit of a stretch.
Quite frankly, all you have to do is admit you have a problem, then you get sent to a paid addiction center for treatment, and are more than likely paid during that time. Alcohol dependency is more and more being treated like a disability than a lack of judgement. I'm not saying that's right, so don't twist.
