The only way a teacher would get fired on the first offense on a DUI, would be if they were transporting students at the time, or driving intoxicated on the school's property while children are present. Even the latter example would be a bit of a stretch.
Quite frankly, all you have to do is admit you have a problem, then you get sent to a paid addiction center for treatment, and are more than likely paid during that time. Alcohol dependency is more and more being treated like a disability than a lack of judgement. I'm not saying that's right, so don't twist. -
I go out drinking occasionally with several of my middle school teachers. They are high half the time too.
Then again they mostly quit to work better paying jobs in the private sector
