But at the end of the day, it's their podcast to do with it what they want.Meek said:
Look, you're right in that it's a small time production with one guy eating and another guy sleeping and a 3rd guy who sometimes doesn't make it, so yeah, really not a big deal... Doesn't really take an MBA from TCU to figure out that people who sell you something and then switch it to something else will have some resistance from their customers.Tequilla said:Seriously, who gives a shit?
HFP is making a business decision in what they feel are in their best interests going forward. Kudos for them for having the opportunity.
Why so many people have to act butthurt over it makes no sense to me.
Life changes and so do people's priorities. Nut the fuck up and move on.
What does the future hold? Well, perhaps some of us? won't care and will still listen and others of us will find the lack of objective criticism makes it a boring ass, knob gobbling to upper campus production that doesn't have hot sauce we like. Either way...
As consumers, we have the say in whether we'll listen or not.
This kind of shit happens all the time. That's the part that has me so amused by it all.
If you think they sold out, then don't listen.
If you enjoy their pod, then listen.
Calling them out for trying to do what they think is in the best interest of their show that's pretty dumb IMO. -

I feel uneasy about it, but I enjoy podcasting with the fellas. It's an enjoyable hobby for me. The line about no upper campus to cater to made me cringe because that's pretty much what is happening.
This thread did make me think and care. I didn't know the divorce would be so public. I feel like my parents divorced and now nobody wants me.
@RoadDawg55 You're one of my favorite posters here, I would meet you behind the 7-11 on aurora for a quick scissor session
But we all know that there is zero chance that the UW athletic department lets you continue to say things like "Fuck the women's bball team. I can't wait for UConn to beat them by 50.", post a profanity laced rant after a fucktard 4th quarter loss, or troll tequila about him fucktardedly defending Smith or Peterson.
They will first put pressure on you to cut it out, if you dont comply they will put pressure on Chest to control you or he will lose his access, either you will be forced to comply under your own will or they will blackmail you with Chest's podcast destruction. -
In defense of those calling them out, isn't that kind of how we all got here, because we were the assholes who were willing to call out Kim for what he felt was in the best interest of a website we used to give a shit about?Tequilla said:

You got here because you saw that Sark wasn't the answer and was calling him out for his fucktardedness. You got here because you realized that Romar couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag and that was at odds with the popular opinion.dnc said:

Fuck, one of my best friends today sent me a note saying that he's now firmly on the Fire Romar train after he heard/saw some more damning information (i.e. he heard someone else say it besides me). This comes weeks after telling me that I needed to let that die because I was out of my element.
The point that I'm trying to make is that disagreeing with their decision to do what they are doing is what it is. But they are acting in what they think is their best interest. More power to them.
I don't personally think that they've completely sold out. They have had to temper their show to appeal to a larger audience ... which is part of the deal. As they have decided to go after a different direction for the show, they have had to temper their viewpoint. That's just evolving. I don't question that they will continue to call spades spades and if Smith sucks to say that Smith sucks.
It's easy to sit on the outside and say that you are going to do this and that. It's a lot harder when on the inside to do that. Very few people have the power and authority to sit at the table, say and do whatever they want, and not have potential ramifications associated with it. -

How about we? trade Tequilla for RoadDawg and then give RD his own podcast as compensation.

Inviting your critics into the building and blackmailing them with access is the surest, most effective way to control and silence them. Seen this a thousand times. It's about protecting the brand.
Prediction: HFP guys will do fine for awhile, and build up a dependency on access, under the watchful eye of upper campus. First time they step out of line, the access chain will be yanked hard, to remind them who's boss. That's when they'll find out what they're really made of and how much freedom they have.
I like the show, but I can't see how it avoids morphing into a milquetoast production if it has to comply with dictates of upper campus. Best of luck to HTBMC & Co. He's earned the opportunity. But I see heavy String?s attached. -
I don't think it's about what I post. They aren't reading every post. I guess the AD aren't fans of HH.Houhusky said:

What I find incredibly stupid about the whole situation was there was absolutely nothing for UW to be upset about in regards to the podcasts before this one where the line was drawn. -

Nah. Drinking Pods are the best, and Tequila's a pleasant enough slurring drunk to listen to. I'm not worried about Gaskin getting his carries. He going to have a big year.
I want to see Petersen win a game by doing what's necessary vs what he would ideally do. It's something we haven't seen these first two years. That's where a lot of frustration about his scheme and play calling comes from.
When Connor Cook was hurt, Michigan State didn't throw the ball unless necessary and beat Ohio State on the road. Alabama gave Henry the ball 40-45 times when they needed to. There were games Stanford only threw 10-15 while Hogan (a future pro) was their QB.
I've got one foot on board, I like the general development, but I also don't forget the fuckery we have seen the past two years. The Apple Cup win doesn't cut it. -
This is the ultimate Friday sacrifice.
I keep waiting for the April fools shit joke but not getting it. -
I think you can all rest easy and realize roadie isn't going anywhere.

I get this bored can be a bit much....the cliques, the nerd shit, the monotonous jokes etc., but it is a place for relative freedom. This bored helped launch the pod and I feel like you guys are turning your back on it. Commercial radio guys have to do this sort of thing to keep their jobs in many cases, but it's not a career for you guys unless we're missing something. The UW AD has been shit for 25 years...run by people like Babs and Todd Turner. They don't deserve much respect until they place a real man like Lude back in there. -
This hurts me more than you, HFP guys. -
I just want to take this opportunity to welcome @HeretoBeatmyChest, @jecornel, and @RoadDawg55 to the club. Sure all this "access" comes with a price but it's really great to be a program insider. Honestly as long as you don't ever say anything negative, slightly controversial, or interesting you pretty much get left alone. Those "I Bark For Sark" free t-shirts are still a favorite in my house, but that's just one of the many beni's. Just try not to sit next to Fetters during any press conferences. His personal hygiene is questionable and he usually smells like putrid cheese.
Now that you are part of the club, I've got some room in my foursome for a 1:00 tee time on Saturday at the club. You guys want in? I've got a nice merlot that drinks like a cab set aside for us in the clubhouse afterwards.
I've also got my technicians scheduling your complementary Dish installs for this week so you can enjoy all the quality programming, including the Pac 12 Network!

What the fuck Chest, women's fucking basketball? What the fuck are you doing dude? Jesus Christ. Did the public relations fag wearing skinny jeans with a tie in the UWAD tell you to mention them or something? I'm done. -

I met James and Chest at the Tiki. They're good dudes. Good Huskies. I guess it just hurts because that podcast is what got me super into this godforsaken place. Chest would go on these hilarious spaz rants and talk mad shit about the fucktarded AD, doogs, Dawgman, and the like. He'd be all over the place and it was glorious. I was so happy that there existed people with the same opinions on the AD as I had (I thought it insane how years and years of dreck would not only be barred from criticism, but dawgman and uwdp doogs would savagely attack anyone who dare question the horrific decision making and dream of returning to greatness), I quickly became a huge fan and made a point of always replying to the HFP threads, giving feedback, and calling in a few times.
That podcast with Jude killed me a little bit. Boring. Sycophantic. Uninspired. Same minutiae we get anywhere else. I was in denial but that really was when the show died
RIP. Quite a ride. I doubt I'll be listening.

It's mostly been said already but I'll weigh in.
All kidding aside, I've been a fan of the HFP for awhile. The production value was shit, but that was part of the charm. Listening to the awkward pauses, food being eaten, dropped calls, shitty audio, and playing "was that a fart in the background?" every episode was well worth it to get the uncensored rants and level headed and honest talk. I may not have agreed with everything being said, but I agreed with most of it and appreciated the honest conversation that you couldn't hear anywhere else.
Looking back, the beginning of the end for me was the Azeem Victor's (other) dad interview. What could have been a honest, unfiltered, uncensored, discussion turned out to be a99%81% vanilla interview that could have been done (better) on any mainstream sports talk discussion. I came in expecting some interesting questions and answers not found anywhere else. It didn't exactly deliver. Calling him Mr. Victor repeatedly would have been funny if done ironically but it came across more as more fanboy sucking up than anything. The fact that there was LPT levels of self-adulation afterwards for that worthless screed should have put up a lot of red flags for everyone.
As others have pointed out, and I agree with, the "jump the shark" moment for the HFP was the Chris Landon and Adam Jude episode circle jerk. There was no substance there. What should have been a great opportunity to get in a couple of Cheetos, Mtn. Dew, and Call of Duty jabs while still discussing interesting football turned into something that could have easily been a segment on the "Guys from Dawgman.com" KJR broadcast. Low tweak I know, but that episode left me wanting. The Jimmy Lake interview was more of the same. By that time the dumpster was fully ablaze.
I tried listening to the last cast, despite my better judgement, but was shaking and vomiting after about 30 seconds into the "Lady Dawgs" talk and stupid shit about how maybe Neighbors should coach both the men's and women's teams....tehe! I turned it off.
I'm afraid I can't be #NebraskaClassy like @DerekJohnson because I'm legitimately disappointed I won't be able to listen to Roadie's sometimes hysterical rants after a shitastic loss to an Arizona team and Chest's analysis of Sagren, SRS, or whatever the fuck it is he uses to prove a point. But whatever their reasons for taking their show in this new direction, it's ultimately up to those guys and I wish them well. There is certainly an audience for that kind of show, some people will pay 10.95 a month for that type of thing. It's just not for me. -
I'm sorry to see chest go to the dark side. I always thought he took way too much shit for the SRS stuff from Roady, while he was trying harder than the other two to be dispassionate and empirical about the state of the program. Make the best of it, Chest, but I'll miss the passion and the shit fits about having a chance to talk and bellowing "the program is on schedule!" That was raw, real, and fucking funny. I will miss that and everything else that went with being an outsider looking in. Holy Fuck! HBTMC is now part of the Establishment? Say it ain't so.
