Yeah, the small town thing plays a part. Then again, I don't think Gainsville, Tally, Boulder, Columbus and several other places pass the "podunk town with nothing else to do" test. It's convenient, and explains some, but not all of it. Eugene is in that category and they were last on the list. There was a time when Washington would have cracked the top 5, and in 2000, might have won it outright.
When Meyer had things going at Florida, they were as bad as any I'd seen since the mid 90s Huskers and the mid 80s Sooners, the latter of which I still think are the gold standard for programs that should scare you away from letter your daughter attend. -
