They're both wrong and they're both right.
Kid shouldn't have jacked a three. He could have just let the clock expire and turned it over. Game was done at that point. Altman gave the kid cover but then he fucked up if he's the one who told him to shoot it.
Coach K shouldn't be lecturing other teams' kids. He was 'right' in that it was a bullshit move by Brooks - but he was wrong in saying anything but 'good game and good luck'.
So Altman is really the fuckface here. He either gave bushleague instructions or he didn't use it as a teachable moment. Maybe he did later and that's why the kid was all Nebraska classy in his comments post-game.

I always hate the moral winning. The game is about winning. He didn't run up and do a 360 dunk and go all myles jack and scream at the sideline. You know what Mikey, if Duke didn't like it they had close to 39:30 minutes to prevent that shot from being overkill. It's not a big deal, it's just a smudge on the facade that Coach K is a classy saint.
He had a moment of butthurt. Lied about it to the media, essentially using his rep as a way to discredit Brooks' statement (on Trial 99.9% of people take his word over Brooks'). Then got exposed when the videos surfaced.
He made a typical classy apology that painted the situation as a misunderstanding between his brain and his mouth, when in fact he was straight up lying to save face.
