Would be crazy if so. I was spending a lot of time in Albuquerque when he was there and he was crazy good. I never got to go to a game but heard it was similar to Gonzaga games.
If you recall, he signed a new contract with new Mexico then shortly thereafter left when UCLA called. Was a huge deal in Albuquerque, considering there's nothing ever cool with sports there. -
A lot of buzz it's a possibility, but probably won't happen only because his buyout is still $10.4M. Which is all GuerreroFS. Alford is clearly persona non grata with fans, admins, and big boosters right now.
It's even more dire because most of the team returns and he adds a top3 national class on top of the roster. It should be a roster capable of winning the not so loaded pac12 and making a final four run.
Of course Alford sucks so they'll log a ten+ loss season and make an irrelevant sweet16 run...then the right people may not be motivated enough to write the $7m check to can him.

I heard they have a great recruiting class coming in. You can't fire a coach if he has great recruits coming in. They might go somewhere else.

Here's a real sobering thought for you fucks...If LoRo had waited a few months before taking the Pepperdine job, he easily would have gotten the UCLA job over Lavin. Lavin only got it because LoRo and Gottfried cashed in on being assistants for a team that just won a NATTY.
