Romney is trying to save any last glimmer of dignity after running one of the most incompetent general election campaigns in modern history.

What benefit does Trump have releasing it anyways? He just has to deny it, and nothing happens. If it gets released, it either supports his stance or doesn't. It's a republican primary issue, not a general election issue. Either way it will ruin any shred of credibility the NY Times has left. There won't be one politician having a sit down with them again. How do they know what they say off the record, will really be off the record?

The Democrats don't benefit from this. What are they going to say? See... he's a liar he's not going to build a wall after all. Isn't that what the democrats are running on right now...not building a wall?

Hillary doesn't have the ability to zing Trump. She isn't funny, it'll come off as awkward and forced. Hillary will be the one that gets upset, and will probably lose her cool. I'd also be more afraid of Bill. You know Trump will try to get Bill fired up, because a fired up old Bill Clinton will say something stupid.
