Like, I am super liberal and suspect that she is a great president of the UW in a lot of ways. She still scares the shit out of me when it comes to making this hire. Obviously you can't judge a book by its cover but it is simply rare to find people who rise to a high level in academics who recognize the value of football.

We'll find out more how she thinks from the hire, but after a succession of old, rich, white guys (Gerbs, McC, Emmert, the Mormon guy) that actively sabotaged or ignored the program, I'm willing to wait for her to mess up first before crying wolf.

I'm fine with giving her a chance but the millisecond there's any p.c. bullshit (ex: a hiring committee including the dean of the tranny studies dept) or just plain stupidity, it's time to go nuts.
She does seem way less stuffy than most academics, which is a good sign. -
