I enjoyed the post, but others' incompetence doesn't excuse Pool Boy.
LSU's situation was a disaster, but the reason they wanted to fire Miles is because they want to win.. Badly. 11-2 and 10-3 seasons don't cut it in Baton Rouge. At UW, a coach could get 8-5 and would probably never get fired.
Cal doesn't count. They have one of the worst programs of any P-5 team.
Texas is a weird program that can't get out of it's way. Strong isn't the guy and they should just end it so Strong can go coach somewhere else. -
Pool boy isn't a bad AD, but he's not great or even above average in the sports that count. He's done some good things over the years, butthe football team is still stuck at a 6-8 win level seven years into his tenure. The basketball team went into the toilet and Romar's seat was never even warm.
He's knows he's on the socially liberal West Coast and Seattle fags will eat up the volleyball, softball, and parapalegic transgender rock climbing team (not sure how that works) doing well and the money sports just need to be semi competitive.
I don't really care about other school AD's incompetence. Our AD needs to demand winning more. -

Like it or not stealing Petersen was a damn big coup when many other schools couldn't pull him away. The signing of Wilcox from Tenn and Tosh from Cal both were big plays despite them not working out.DerekJohnson said:

I believe the athletic department is in the black and is doing OK on that end, but I haven't followed that closely lately.
He gets credit for Petersen. The jury is definitely still out, but most here have at least cautious optimism about the future, even if they won't admit it. At the worst, it was a good hire at the time.
