Bored Kommissar Heard From - or, I get PMs

So yesterday I get a PM from Derek. He's concerned because a certain poaster has contacted him with respect to statements made on the bored about his military record, the intention of another poaster to do a little research, etc. etc. etc.

Derek requested that I not file my records request with the U.S. Marine Corps, and I agreed not to.

Draw your own conclusions.

There's a lesson to be learned here for certain poasters - don't put your personal shit out there unless you're not concerned about people finding out about you. Anything you say on a message bored is public, offered up freely, and is fair game. If you link photos or other nuggets from social media to the bored, you are also linking your profile and any other personal information related to that social media account.

Finally, don't make claims that you don't want investigated.

I'm not stopping because I'm scared of a pro se lawsuit (that would just be fun) - I'm stopping because I like this bored and I don't want Derek to pull an iDawg (RIP) because the denizens can't control themselves. So I'm controlling myself.



Hopefully a certain regular poaster on this bored will learn a lesson in self-restraint as well from this. If nothing else, he should be cognizant that there's a subsection of folks out there who know exactly who he is, and maybe that will temper his behavior.

Or not. People can be really, really stupid.
