If the Mariners could trade Cano and essentially all of the contract away for even a limited return, they would be well served to consider it.

If they could actually trade away Cano's contract, you have to do that. Honestly, if they could package him with Felix (basically force a team to take Cano to get Felix) they could haul in a ton of talent while shedding most of their budget. Trading Felix would be sacrilege in Seattle, but he has a ton of miles on him already and you can't win with 1 ace pitcher and nothing else. Seattle needs talent everywhere.

Why can't the Mariners just keep Cano and invest more of their free cash flow into free agents, scouting and prospects in an effort to win games and sell more tickets and shit?

Same reason why the Huskies are the Huskies, they don't care about winning.sarktastic said:Why can't the Mariners just keep Cano and invest more of their free cash flow into free agents, scouting and prospects in an effort to win games and sell more tickets and shit?
