If they ran consistently, UW would've adjusted their D. They were playing Qualls and Gaines with Littleton and Feeney at DE because they figured SC was pass only. They could have brought Dissly in more (which they did more of in the 2H) to size up the line.
For example against Stanford, I'd bet you'll see Qualls, Gaines, Dissly and Tupoy at the same time to run size against size.
The flexibility of UWs D is what has me doogin hard. Can offset the spread with smaller DEs and King as the extra DB or go size upfront against power running teams. -

Except if you remove Cody Cassels five sacks for -25 yards then USC averaged around 6.5 yards per carry or so.

Madden had a similar carry pattern vs Stanford...he's come off major knee surgeries recently so maybe he just can't go 20+.
Justin Davis should be given special thanks for the Sarkening yesterday. He dropped several easy screens/swings that could have chewed up a lot of yards. -
