‘It’s a War': A Look at How the US and Its Allies Are Fighting ISIS
There is a humble lethality in the way the A-10 pilots talk about killing. They chuckle and eat ice cream for dessert as they tell stories about panic-stricken ISIS fighters accidentally running toward the distinctive sound of the A-10’s 30-mm Gatling cannons, or of an ISIS fighter who did a swan dive to his death off a cliff while trying to escape an A-10 attack.Guess I'm checked out on the news these days, I didn't realize we had that much force deployed in Syria.
“When I saw that, I just radioed: ‘He’s dead,’” one pilot, an Air Force major, dryly explained.
“They say they love death more than we love life,” another pilot, a captain, said. “But they always flee when we attack. I’ve never seen one not try to get away.”

An engagement with a JV opponent doesn't get the "war" label. It gets the "Operation" label. As in Operation Inherent Resolve (feel free to look up those words at dictionary.com, I had to) which is killing about 1,000 JV scrubs a month.
This is just an excuse to keep our well oil machine tuned up, it's not a "war." -
