It gets him elected in Vermont, sure it is a small state, but Republicans vote for him too, and the gun lobby, because he isn't anti gun -- which is popular in a state full of hunters.greenblood said:
Unfortunately just telling the truth isn't going to get him elected. I don't like his position on estate tax. I've never liked that tax, because it basically taxes already taxed assets. Now he wants to increase it. He also wants to raise the tax limit on the rich...Thump said:
I agree that it will be hard for Sanders once everybody starts to associate him with Socialism to a larger degree -- but I know a number of Independents that normally vote Republican -- that are leaning towards Sanders now because they view him as the only candidate with a track record of telling the truth. And politicians that tell the truth are a rare breed - in any party. They view that is being more important than his stance of some of the issues that they don't agree with. This is one of the reasons he is doing so well in Utah now, in a recent poll of all voters (not just democrat).greenblood said:I like Carson, but it will be Fiorina vs Biden in 2016
Sanders lie Trump is completely unelectable
Even if he does want to increase taxes, the legislative branch wouldn't let him go very far.
But in the end I agree, he isn't very electable. But I think he is more electable than Trump is. -
PLSS is more electable than Trump. Trump is going to fade once the bottom feeders leave the race and endorse other candidates. The only way Trump can overcome that is if he gets over 50% which he is already slowing down and is barely above 30%. The writing is on all wall.Thump said:

well... stop thinking about it or you might get depressed and end up on a firewater, drug induced tatted hooker binge... and what will that solve?Swaye said:I started this thread hoping someone would tell me who the fuck Scott Walker is. This bored has failed me.

I was against the min wage increase before I am now for it. It will certainly change things for small business which was the main reason I was against it. But Corporate America isn't playing fair. They either off shore jobs by the thousands to low income countries or offer part time work as to avoid paying benefits to employees, all the while making record profits that largely don't find their way back into the economy. Or they abundacize and do both.greenblood said:

Now he wants to increase it. He also wants to raise the tax limit on the rich, which is fine, but most of their taxes comes from capital gains and not net income, so good luck with that. Rich people are rich for a reason. The system is so broken now, there is a loophole for everything. The rich will find it. Then, the only thing left is to tax the upper middle class then on down, to help pay for the poor.Thump said:

The one thing Carson and Sanders agree on, that bothers me is the $15/hr minimum wage by 2020 nonsense. I love how they talk about increasing jobs. How are you supposed to do that if employees cost more than twice as much after you factor in payroll taxes.
The onyl solution to the tax problem is the flat tax. It's simple, and as with things that are simple, it prevents much of the loopholes that currently hurt our system today. -
Minimum wage increases will just ship large corporation jobs overseas, while small business suffer. Corporations will continue to profit, except it will be from other currencies, while more jobs are cut in the corporate and small business sectors. sounds like a terrific ideasalemcoog said:
