I have watched a lot of UW games (went to school at UO). I'm excited for the game this week. I noticed in the other thread about the 420 guy that some of you want to talk real football, so I'm here to answer any questions about our team/coach/town/school.

A few things. First, we had a lot of bad penalties. We got into SUU territory (shouldn't even be called that vs an FCS team) a few times and then had personal fouls. We only had a few third downs under 8 yards or so. We went 1/15 or something on third down. It was awful. The OL couldn't block. We were missing 5 starters at WR after the first quarter due to suspensions, dismissals, and injuries. Our RB got dinged up. We were also trying to keep the playbook vanilla (not to mention the first game with a new playbook and new OC). SUU has a decent defense, though they didn't play well at all vs the fcs team in their second game so who knows.doogville said:I'll bite - what changed between barely beating an FCS team and playing Utah close on the road?
For the utah game, everybody seemed much sharper. We obviously spent the summer preparing for Utah (and maybe UW?). I don't know if we will improve again, but I'm hoping so.

Yes, Hunter Sharp is probably the best offensive player on the team. We had 3 QBs lost to season ending injuries last year, but he still managed to put up 1000 yards. With the 2nd string qb, he had a 4 game series of 38 catches 450 yards against Wake Forrest (top 15 pass D at the time), BYU, Air Force (another top one IIRC), and Arkansas state.whatshouldicareabout said:I know USU gets some players back for the UW game. We also return a starting OL and some depth players.

well I'm back. working late today so I can get some comp time, so I'll be around. It's a rainy day in jamaica, but it feels a little different than the PNW.
