...because I thought he was hamstrung by our limp armed QB last year.
Now Im not. We had a much more talented QB playing last night, yet its the same damn plan. The scheme is just shit. We dont stretch or pressure the intermediate middle of the field. Theres nothing wrong with some lateral passes, if there is a compliment to them. Browning has the arm and savvy to drive the ball into the middle of the field. We dont. We play offense like we are afraid of our own shadow.
And as much as it pains me to say it, this is on Petersen. Its a disaster and has shown me the faint hope I held out for Smith and the offense to look alot different this year was a pipe dream. You play/coach scared in athletics it doesnt go well.
One week in and here we are again. I picked the wrong year to quit drinking.

Smith is probably shit, but UW could not run the ball last night. Like at all. If you can't run the ball and then you don't fully trust a Frosh QB to push the ball down the field - Not really sure what you can expect a play caller to do. That's a shit sandwhich.

Jonathan Fucking Smith is everything wrong on the football team.
People are giving our o-line and RBs a lot of shit, but we didn't really even try to establish it. The rushing plays that were called were just terrible. Pitches, off tackle bullshit, etc. Needed to just pound Washington up the middle.

On the last drive we finally let Browning throw some intermediate 15-20 yard passes. And he completed a few and even missed a couple throws where guys where somewhat open. So obviously they can do it.
I understand being conservative, but that was on another level. There will be some games this season where the offense will do well. I'm sure dipshits will call the Smith bashers out when that happens, but the real issue is that this program can and should do better. We've seen enough to know Smith and Petersen's current offensive system sucks.
