I've talked with someone who knows him. Education is #1, #2, and #3 on the priority list for him and his mom. I didn't get the feeling that he's a sports fan, just a really smart kid who happens to be really good at sports. I think Petersen has a shot based on the built for life, okg stuff but it sounds like the minute Stanford offered, he became theirs to lose.
And no...losing one lineman to Stanford doesn't condemn us to a lifetime of mediocrity, just like getting him does not guarantee we will ever compete with Oregon or Stanford again (see Shaq Thompson) -

If he goes to Stanford then our boosters should offer our DL a bounty on knocking him on his ass. If I was a big swinging dick booster that is what I'd do. And also supply roids to our lineman in the offseason.
