With the prevalence of passing offenses in high school (and Browning did throw the ball just a bit there) and the 7 on 7 passing leagues/camps that are in place, QBs are far better positioned to come in and contribute early compared to what they were previously. It's not for every QB ... but if the QB is a good one, they have a good chance to be just fine playing early.

Jerry, why are you still arguing this? If Browning is the best QB, he should start. For fuck's sake, you don't redshirt your best QB for a special 2019 season. And if he's not the best, he should redshirt if possible. Ideally, Lindquist or Carta Samuels will play well enough that Browning can redshirt. We don't have ideal QB depth though. It's a dreckfest.

The reason Winston and Maziel redshirted is that EJ Manuel and Ryan Tannehill were in front of them. Both those guys were only 1st round picks. I'm sure if we had a QB of that caliber, or even Keith Price, Browning would redshirt.

There is. It's an upperclassman QB who is better.

Thanks, fellas, for continuing to prove my point: Young QBs, no matter how talented, aren't generally very good as true frosh. Which explains how forgettable veterans like EJ Manuel, Darron Thomas, and Ryan Tannehill can keep future Heisman winners on the bench in Year One.

The CEO gave a state of the website address today. It began with a diatribe about how traditional radio is dying and podcasts are where it's at (translation: we are running 3rd to fishing and horse racing on the Saturday morning slot). Also, more LPT videos of him trying to hold still while being interviewed by recently graduated communications majors.

And some shit about Fetters trying to lose weight.

Then this gem caught my eye.

"AAndy………He’s been sick for a while. I’ve never felt it was my place to tell people about what’s going on. If he wanted the info out, fine. I just didn’t feel it was my place. "

I can only assume this follows up with a "Go Aaaaandy" chant lead by Sark

    The obsession continues...

Tannehill was a Top 10 pick in the Draft and is having some success in the NFL ... hard to say that he was "forgettable"

And while I absolutely agree with your opinion that young QBs are generally not as good as veteran QBs ... you have to look at it in perspective to the current situation.

The reality is that we don't have a firmly entrenched or established QB that has shown any signs of skill at the position. The only player at the position with experience had a real up/down game at Hawaii. The other two options will be freshman.

If Lindy can give you a competent year this year, then I say you play him and let the two young QBs develop. But if he isn't going to be the answer and isn't better than what Miles gave you last year, then you have to go to a freshman and take your lumps this year.

All of this Browning talk is fucking moot.

Lindquist will be the starter and will be much improved from last year.

You guys are so used to players regressing or treading water that you refuse to believe that players usually improve. Linquist did better than the other QBs in spring ball and it wasn't really close. He also won't get split in two from a tackle like Browning would if he were to start.

Sark and Willingham is no longer the fucking coach.

I went back to read one of the spring practice reports and read a session when Browning went 8-8, KJCS went 4-5, and Lindquist went 1-4.

This is especially funny to me because I vividly remember no more than a year ago doogs complaining that KJR didn't put the podcasts up quick enough and F3 would passive-aggressively try to make said doogs feel stupid by saying there's no money in podcasts...and basically told paying customers that if you want to hear us, just tune in. Problem solved.

...Finally, with regard to Browning, I didn't stay through the entire Spring Fling and really only stayed long enough to see the warm-ups. The first thing that stood out to me in watching the QBs was that the way Browning carried himself screamed of him having the "IT" that you look for out of the QB position and it was as apparent that he had that swagger about him as it was that the other two didn't have that swagger. It looked effortless for Browning in making the throws and just watching out other players, etc. interacted with him it looked to my highly untrained and distant eye that he was the one that most of the guys were assuming would be the long-term answer at QB. He will have his challenges as he adjusts to the speed of the game, etc. But similar to how everybody is all hyping up Goff this year, the benefits of getting Browning into the game this year will be the payoff that we will have over the 2016, 2017, and maybe even 2018 seasons...

Did nobody actually watch Goff's freshman year? How did he become the poster child for the play-em-early doogs?
I watched Goff as a freshman and wondered when the little high school looking kid was going to get killed. The talent was undeniable, however and playing him turned out to be a good idea for Cal

I heard a little of Kim's show last Saturday. He was asking some poor 18 year old kid stupid questions about pop culture or something - as if he's the cool middle aged guy who relates to young people. It was painful to listen to. You could tell the kid was thinking, "Why the fuck is this guy talking about stupid shit like this?"
