M's Roster Improvement

I'm thinking the M's should trade for this guy to catch 2 games a week and work with Zunino on his game:

I was happy to see Weeks DFA'ed.

Until the Mariners make a change in ownership, it doesn't matter

Wait... About a week ago you said they could win 90 games?

    So you're saying TSIFO?

The least Lincoln / JZ could do (whether they are around next year or not) is not screw up Zunino. He is struggling and getting a veteran catcher to catch 2 games a week would really help him and the team.

    Pressing.

Lou Pinella and Pat Gillick won in Seattle and annual payroll is bigger now. A good GM and skipper can do it again.

Tank, then they might be able to draft somebody that will hit over .250

    They'd probably take a pitcher.

About 3 weeks ago when they got to .500 there was a path to still winning 90 games ...

Since that point they've proven that TSIO ... which I said last week.

By the end of next weekend with Houston coming into Seattle and winning at minimum another 2 out of 3 ... this season will be over for more and more people.

    You're an idiot Boobs ...

Aubbie moves the goalposts in large part because he can't stand being accountable for what he says ... he's the kind of the "I was right IF this, that, and everything else happened" line of thinking.

On the other hand, someone like me will make a prediction, own the prediction, yet be willing to update their prediction if/when there is further evidence that provides reason to reconsider.

Everybody fucks something up from time to time. The biggest mistake isn't the original fuck up ... it's continuing to insist that either you didn't fuck up or blaming other things for causing the fuck up.

    Fair enough.

You are still a dumbass for failing to know that the season was over in March though.

Selling would be nice but Howard Lincoln is the chief problem and he's approaching 80. Get rid of him, get rid of JZ, replace them with good baseball people, and the M's could compete for the division again.

I think Lincoln just reps Nintendo who are the majority owners. Nintendo doesn't give a shit about the Mariners, they are just some random asset that makes them a relative small amount of money. Once Lincoln goes, Nintendo will just hire some random stooge to replace him and the cycle goes on.

True, but a random stooge is going to be an upgrade from Howie.

True...but with two starting pitchers out with injuries, a star 2B not really hitting, and a subpar platoon in LF that needs to be addressed with adding a LH bat, there's not much else to discuss except for canning Lincoln (and, obviously adding a 2nd catcher).

The sources that have stopped by my office basement have told me JZ has probably doesn't have much money to spend so Carlos Ruiz is probably not an option. Ben Revere of the Phillies would be a good piece to add, we could offer Mike Montgomery or Elias and Ackley in a direct or 3 way trade to make it happen.

Remember, Paxton should be returning soon and doing a trade for a rangy LF (can also play CF) with a good LH bat and excellent speed would remove one more excuse JZ (and Lincoln) would have for not making the playoffs.

The Mariners are 7 games under .500 with the 3rd worst run differential in the AL and you are talking about a back up catcher?

Not trading away OF prospects for strikeout prone OFs that don't get on base because you are on the verge of getting fired is also not good baseball ...

But then again, it doesn't matter because Lincoln, Armstrong, Jack Z, et. al. need to take a jump off the Aurora Bridge.

Armstrong is already retired but yes, Lincoln and JZ need to go.

He was really the operations guy of the team, day-to-day stuff like concessions, ticket sales, promotions rather than a true baseball guy.

Lincoln is the root of the problem...his ego was too big and led Pinella and then Gillick to leave. Since then, he's hired yes-men who don't challenge him but true leaders don't surround themselves with lackeys who only pour honey into their ears.

Armstrong was a big part of the problem. Lincoln's obviously the other big part of it.

The problem is I'm drunk all the time and never make it out to games. 2-0 in the last 2 years when attending. Would go today but need to reposition the mannequin at work.

Having James Jones batting 6th in an order and being the protection for Brad Miller may be one of the stupidest things I've ever seen in a batting order.

I remember coming to the conclusion about ten years ago that winning wasn't a priority at all. It was actually July 31st, 2003. They needed to make some kind of trade to put them over the top and the Jap or Lincoln Log refused to do it by the deadline. For all the smartasses (Boobs) out there, yeah, it wasn't a surprise. It was more of a confirmation.

They kind of shoot for winning 85 gaymes, and if they overachieve and win 92, the fanbase willl eat that up, especially when it means postseason. They know how stupid most of them are.

All the faggot ass airplane games, hydroplanes, kiss cams, pink Felix Court shirts, kiddie games, rally fries, Moose, grounds crew dances, and commercials etc. are marketing gimmicks, which would be tolerable if they were competent.
