US Dept of Justice, working with Swiss Authorities arrested seven football officials in a pre-dawn raid at a 5-Star Hotel in Zurich. (Stars are very important.)

“Today’s events are a disaster for Fifa and tarnish the image of football as a whole,” Uefa said. “These events show, once again, that corruption is deeply rooted in Fifa’s culture.
“The upcoming Fifa Congress risks to turn into a farce and therefore the European associations will have to consider carefully if they should even attend this Congress and caution a system, which, if it is not stopped, will ultimately kill football.”
The seven officials, including two Fifa vice-presidents, were held in a dawn raid on a five-star hotel in Zurich requested by US prosecutors. All seven, along with two former Fifa officers and five business executives, were indicted in a US federal court on charges of racketeering, money laundering and wire fraud.
Six of the seven people arrested said that they would oppose extradition to the United States, according to the Swiss justice ministry. The US will now be required to submit formal extradition requests within 40 days to proceed.
