Back when Don James celebrated the 100 year anniversary of Husky Football, George Wilson was named the greatest player in Husky History.

During the 100 year celebration in 1990, Wilson was actually named the greatest player of the first half century. Wilson's is one of two (now three) numbers that have been retired by UW football and cannot be worn by another player. McElhenny was named the greatest player of the second half century.d2d said:
