Those numbers don't specify full time v part time and they don't reflect a percentage of population that has grown considerably legally and illegally

Read more than the headline next time

Average weekly hours of all employees now = 34.5.
Average weekly hours of all employees when Bush left office = 34.1.

The population growth poont is valid, but on the other hand lazy ass Boomers are retiring by the day now.

TL, DR: Things are about where they were 7 years ago. Not great, not a disaster, either way it won't be interesting.
The number of temp, contract, and part time workers has gone way up over the years. Those categories make up 20 percent of the workforce now.
But how is Obamacare affecting the workforce? If you don't think employers are avoiding full time employees as much as possible you aren't upper level like some of us here. Part time and temp and contract not only avoids Obamacare and the worst is yet to come, it avoids a whole bunch of other regulations that have been imposed over the years, including before Obama.

But how is a cut in hours/pay good for the economy?

I don't know a middle sized or smaller law firm that has hired a regular full-time employee in a few years, specifically because of Obamacare.
