Romar lands a big man...

Welcome to the #HuskyFamily Sam Timmins - the 6-10 C from New Zealand will join the class of 2016 pic.twitter.com/jiaJlcskVu

New Zealand is a hotbed for bball talent.
At least this dude sounds good on paper, unlike previous foreign players.

So he's never met Romar and has never been to Seattle?
Should be no problems. -
But apparently a big reason why he chose UW was because of and the reputation of Romar.

"Canterbury Rams rookie and Junior Tall Black Sam Timmins is set to join one of the top college basketball teams in the United States"
Article loses all credibility after that -
I would have expected something different from a "junior tall black."greenblood said:"Canterbury Rams rookie and Junior Tall Black Sam Timmins is set to join one of the top college basketball teams in the United States"

He'll end up at Gonzaga when romar is fired. He will probably be the one big romar has been looking for who will never actually put on a UW uniform
-
He said he chose UW for academis, awesome Seattle weather, and Romar's amazing reputation.FreeChavez said:He'll end up at Gonzaga when romar is fired. He will probably be the one big romar has been looking for who will never actually put on a UW uniform
Gonzaga has none of those things. -
Looks like he took a good look at the T-Bone by sticking his head up the butcher's assThomasFremont said:

I love how he says he's heard romar is a really good guy, as if he read a couple articles on him and that's good enough. I guess that's one way to get players to board the sinking ship; find someone that doesn't know any better.
And maybe I stayed up too late playing call of duty last night or something, but how did this kid sign a LOI almost 18 months before he steps on campus? Or was 2016 a misprint? I thought signing day isn't until the first week of November. -
This seems eerily similar to Enis Kantner a few years ago
Off-the-radar foreign kid signs up with Romar but has never met him or been to Seattle
Then one day there's a knock on the door...
Hello?........... -
He reminds me of a young Steven Adams.
-
Except this kid has to have actually signed an LOI, since the University is commenting on him. I don't get how he's a 2016 though? Really weird situation.bananasnblondes said:This seems eerily similar to Enis Kantner a few years ago

That's what I was trying to figure it out. It doesn't make sense.dnc said:

Grayshirt kind of thing maybe? He signs now but enrolls later? It would have to be unbinding in that case though, right?DugtheDoog said:

New Zealander seniors graduate 6 months before American seniors.

Maybe he can date Lorde and she can be our in-house celebrity

He's a good guy. He's not a good top 100 CBB coach.DugtheDoog said:I love how he says he's heard romar is a really good guy, as if he read a couple articles on him and that's good enough. I guess that's one way to get players to board the sinking ship; find someone that doesn't know any better.
