Spurs-Clips

Spurs are choking late. Great game and the only good series in the first round.

I've learned never to count out the Spurs but if they lose this, it might be curtains. Ginobli and Duncan can't have that much left and Antoine Parker has played 14 years or something too?

    Clippers gonna clip

Someone should explain to doc rivers that he has one of the top players in the nba who handles the ball well on his team. Seems like a good idea to give the ball to cp3 with 10 seconds left so it's not dribbled off your leg.

He did. Paul missed a contested 20 footer at the buzzer.

The Griffin play is just the Clippers being the Clippers. The play was fine and they got what they wanted.

You can't count on Blake just giving the ball to the Spurs on a run out ...

At this point, I'm not sure that there's a good argument against Duncan being at worst the 3rd best big to ever play the game.

Yes you can. They do it every year. That's why they are the Clippers.

That said, Pop did everything he could to blow it in the 4th. He did hack a Jordan, which made Ginobili foul out with Parker out already. They played late 4th and in OT without their two ball handlers because of it. Duncan also got his 4th and 5th fouls doing it. Not to mention it took them completely out of rhythm on offense.

I will never trust the Clippers to win, but Tony Parker is really struggling with injuries.

    Spurs win this series ...

Then they lose to Golden State in 6 ...

Spurs and Clips are probably the 2nd and 3rd best teams in the West.

Great series to watch. Not sure the Spurs have enough but the Clips have no bench. War of attrition as Barkley said.

Golden State not ready yet. They need to go through the Bulls' disappointment of getting muscled/outsmarted by the Pistons. Thompson still disappears for long stretches and Kuwai Leonard can flat shutdown either Thompson or Curry if necessary.

    Popp> Kerr.

    For now.

Wtf'd for thinking Curry will get shutdown.

Maybe no 'shut down' but slowed down considerably. Leonard presents much larger issues defensively than your standard NBA point guard.

Golden State has to finish the deal ...

But assuming that they do, they are in the process of completing one of the top 10 seasons in NBA history.

I think you could argue that they've had disappointments the last two years.

The only thing that will shut Curry down is a sprain ankle, which he hasn't had in a while.

You still have to put leonard on one of them, leaving the other to have who guarding them? manu? a limping around tony? Providing bogut is healthy I think the spurs get throttled if they make it to the next round.

Spurs could beat the Rockets ... Rockets getting past the first round will be a huge feather in their cap. I see the Spurs/Clippers winner beating the Rockets.

Danny Green is one of the best defenders in the league. He'll take Thompson.

Spurs match up better against the Warriors than they do against the Clippers. Nobody can handle Blake Griffin (see also coog Baynes getting posterized in Game 1). Curry/Thompson vs. Green/Leonard/Parker/Mills. Much easier to keep fresh legs on those guys.

That is, if the Spurs can beat the Clippers which isn't going to be easy.

Playoffs are all about matchups. Griffin creates massive issues for the Spurs.

@PurpleThrobber I suggest you sit this one out.

I don't know if Memphis has enough offense, but they will give GS trouble next round.

The Spurs could shut Curry down with Leonard. Look what he did on Lebron last year. Deny him the ball. The Warriors do have other players though

I think one of the most underrated players in the NBA right now is Harrison Barnes. A lineup of Curry, Thompson, Barnes, Lee, and Bogut is a juggernaut. This doesn't even include a savvy veteran like Iguodala coming off the bench.

Lee rarely makes it off the bench for the Warriors

You just claimed Duncan was one of the top 3 bigs all-time. Does that mean you're suggesting Bogut is one of the top 2?
