I just got this link to a Seattle times article regarding a very similar case of a "False Rape" charge made by a woman in King County. It is extremely encouraging for me to know that Dan Satterberg has the guts to go after at least one of these women.

I asked for a mistrial and she refused. The judge refused, so I went to the Chief Civil Judge and got a mistrial. Every time since then that I get assigned that judge, I ask for a new judge.
Judges do that all the time and never tell you. They can make up their mind about you or your client based on inadmissible bullshit in the King County computer system. Most attorneys don't agree with me, but that is why I ALWAYS ask for a jury trial if there is ANY arrest record information in the computer.

I assume you have some statistics to back up the claim that false allegations are not uncommon. Or like most of your points is it wild speculation based on a logical fallacy?
It happens that I have personal experience as an attorney in the area. I have even had a city prosecutor sanctioned by the judge for failing to investigate the charges before arresting my client. He was also suspended for six months by the WSBA. He actually argued that he was acting out of political pressure from an activist women's organization. The accuser had actually injured herself with a dumbbell at her gym in front of witnesses. Luckily, my client had the money for me to hire an ex Seattle Detective, now Private Investigator. He found her ex-husband and the whole thing unraveled.
She had pulled the same stunt in her divorce case against her husband in Tacoma. In that case, she left her husband's house, (uninjured witnessed by the next door neighbor), and drove directly to a fire station where she cut herself while sitting in her car. A fireman observed her cutting herself and came forward later. If he hadn't, her ex-husband would now have a serious criminal record and could have served serious jail time.
One case record is in Superior Court in Seattle and the other is in Superior Court in Tacoma. If you go to the clerk's office on the 6th floor of the courthouse in Seattle and search dismissed domestic violence cases in Seattle from 2010, you should find it. I believe the one in Tacoma was 2008.
It is quite expensive hiring private investigators to do the investigation that the prosecutors' office should do, and unfortunately none of that money is recoverable. Many prosecutors and city attorneys have grand political ambitions and can be influenced by activist women's groups. Some of them want to prove how much they support these groups by arresting accused men ASAP.
The only cases that receive any publicity are those that involve a well known University like Duke or UVA. As you recall, the parents in both situations could afford private investigators who proved that the charges in both cases were bullshit. If you don't have the money to fight it, you're screwed.
BTW, the prosecutor in the Duke Lacrosse case has been permanently disbarred. Just like the UVA case, nobody ever apologized to the young men who were falsely accused.

It started with the city attorney in a King County suburb. He referred it to the King County Prosecutor's office with virtually no investigation and he lied to the Prosecutor's office to get them to issue an arrest warrant. (One of the reasons I wish there was a Grand Jury system in this state.) My client (Seattle resident) was arrested in Seattle and put in KC Jail Seattle. He was arraigned and bail was set at $100,000 (asshole judge). I got it reduced to PR and hired the private investigator. I got a sworn affidavit from the manager of the gym who watched her beat up her arms with the dumbbell and presented it along with the PI (who was known to the county prosecutor assigned). They agreed to dismiss the charges WITH PREJUDICE, but refused to go after the woman for filing a false police report. They DID however support my sanctions motion against the City Attorney and supported my Bar complaint against him. He actually appealed it all the way to the State Supreme Court and lost at the Appellate Court and the Supreme Court. He has since been elected to a much higher office and was endorsed by several women's organizations.
