Eklund actually had a pretty damn good explanation for this that flies in the face ofKim's recent idiocy. He said Petersen's consistency in his approach to recruiting resonates well with kids. He sells the program and being part of the program and only looking for athletes that make the OKG grade. Eklund said kids like this more than Sark's approach, which was to sell something specific to each recruit (early playing time, getting your girlfriend into the school, bring your friend along as a walk on) instead of the program as a whole.

I fully expect Eklund to get a time out for posting this nonsense and a warning that next time he will be just gone.

I have to play devil's advocate and say who gives a shit. Great, recruits are talking up UW. Now get them to sign. FREE PUB and coming in 2nd and 3rd doesn't do anything.

Agreed. It's part of it, but not the end result. Gas in the car doesn't guarantee it will start.

Not to mention that they can only take 25 just like anybody else ...

Be in the Top 3 for the Top 3 at a position grouping and you're going to recruit at comparable levels ... add to that the fact that those kids coming to Washington will most likely have a bit of a chip on their shoulders ... that's a big part of the recipe for success.
In the book The Thursday Speeches a bunch of emphasis on the idea that the LA schools didn't want the kids and they were merely "leftovers" was pounded into the team by Don James.

I don't know if it's tv exposure, scholarship reductions, or XBOX, but the concept of pride in beating the LA schools to send a message seems to be missing.

I would like to see that aggression and determination on the husky sideline again.

Name one poster here who has even bragged about getting to that bowel game, or pointed to it as a sign of success? You can't... Yet you and your coog brethren continue to point to that epic New Mexico Bowel game as the proof that Leach is the greatest.

UW lost that game in the first half. WSU lost their game in the last 2 minutes

    Just the same

U miss the point Leach getting Cougs to a bowl game 2 years after Wulff debacle was a miracle. Not many coaches were worse that ur hero Ty Willie. Wulff was one of them.

Leach achieved a bowl game using Wulff's players, then replaced them with his players who then followed up the New Mexico debacle with a 2 win season.

All Leach has done since arriving at WSU is to spend borrowed money

So using ur convoluted logic, now that Petersen has majority of his guys on team u should be around 5 wins this year heading back to Owen 12 in 2016

I can read a roster and game participation chart. Can you?

Leach also told Xavier Cooper he was a 6th round pick... at best... but probably an undated FA. He even had a sports writer buddy talk with Cooper and lend his 'expert' advice that Cooper must return to Leach for more if he has a prayer at the NFL.

Cooper is now expected to be drafted in the 2nd round.

I'm glad u know what Leach tells his players about draft stock, ur boy Petersen really ruined Kasen's chances.

It wasn't tuff... Leach and Cooper were both quoted in a news story surrounding the announcement.

The point is every coach will try to talk their players from leaving early unless they will be a sure fire 1st rounder.
Not every coach blows smoke up recruits butts telling them they are the piece needed to from compete for championships like ur desperate coach did.

What about Sark who brought Locker back despite being a sure fire 1st rounder as a Junior?

Every coach lies to their best players??? in an effort to help himself at the expense of the players best interests????

No wonder why Leach can't recruit any local players and has to settle for Oklahoma retreads to round out a class.

Sark as well as all non husky fans knew Locker would not be ready for league as qb even if he came back for 8 years. He should have been a safety
