Is it pointless to root for UW to lose to SC?

Worst team in the P12. Would look bad, especially if we lose the 3 after that. But I'm afraid it doesn't fucking matter cuz pool boy would keep Romar if he were owen30

This is a first, but tonight I am actually grateful to Larry Scott. No Pac-12 Network

    Year 13

    JJ
    Dorsey
    AA
    Mike Anderson
    Darin Johnson

    Winters

That is your starting lineup, and 6th man.

Team produced a blistering 29% from the field, and 32% from 3. They lost got blown out by a 10-18 team who shot 22% from 3, and 45% from the FT line.

It's too hard to get your team to buy in when they know the coach is only signed until 2020.

Even moose over on dm.c has to be having second thoughts by now........wait, there is no way. He's probably planning for a ncaa tourney run in 2017

The only question in moose's mind in regard to Romar is "spit or swallow"

Two days ago Moose gave a state of the union address over on doogman. As usual, he gave the "I'm not happy with the team right now, but I will trade wins for having a great man like Romar as head coach" routine. He cited the fact that Romar doesn't pay recruits like Miller and doesnt recruit shady characters (Updhaw? Overton?) like Altman. Oh, and most importantly, he doesn't cuss and is good for the community (whatever that means).

Fuck that. Schrempf, Welp, Fortier, Shag Williams - those boys could ball.

3 straight NCAA appearances. Two Pac 10 titles.

30 years ago was the golden age of husky hoops.

Marv is giving you a big middle finger from the grave. Wearing funny nose and glasses.

All I see are 2 4 stars, A Kevin Durant clone, an explosive scoring Oregon player of the year, and a coveted National JC recruit.

Exactly 30 years ago, UW beat Duke in the NCAA Tourney to advance to the Sweet 16.

The excuses made for Romar are ridiculous - at this point, people supporting him are enabling something far worse than mediocrity ... Indifference

Rooting in my heart for Ty and Sark to lose when it became clear they were not the guy really hurt. I care about the team so much, and even in those moments where I knew it was best for the program if we lost, I still wanted to see the guys win.

This isn't football. I love basketball as a sport, but the college game is such a complete dreckfest that unless you have a powerhouse, NOGAF.

I hope we lose out. Get blown out the first game in the Pac Tourney. And are promptly ushered in a new era.

30 years ago we lost to KY in Marv's last game in round 1.

The wins over Nevada and Duke were in 84.

    Except it wasn't.

Everyone remembers (at least I thought they did) "Final Four in '84", when Seattle was hosting its first Final Four in like 30 years, and the UW had a real team. And when we defeated Duke in Pullman to get to the Sweet Sixteen, it was still a remote possibility (we still had Dayton and Georgetown in the way) but it was still possible. That was the '83-'84 season, 31 years ago. You will remember the following year's ('84-'85) schedule poster had the photo of Detlef after the dunk at the end of the triple overtime game against UCLA.

30 years ago, the '84-'85 season was Marv's last year, when we were a 5 seed and lost to Kenny Walker and Kentucky.

'86 Russo some how got in, and Welp almost defeated Scott Skiles and MSU by himself, except our Bryce Drew Valpo moment did not materialize after Welp tipped the inbound to Moscatel, who missed the jumper at the buzzer.

Myabe... But Marv also lost to Scott Skiles and Michigan State in the NCAA, which was either '85 or '86. Russo took over in '87, which was Welp's last season, and we went to the NIT. I was at Welp's last home game, which was the opening round of the NIT.

I take it back, I'm wrong. I just looked it up. Marv's last year was '85, like you said. I don't remember Russo leading us to the NCAAs.

How do you fire a guy (Harshman) who has just won back-to-back Pac-10 titles?

In all honesty, I wasn't born yet so I have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to Husky Basketball in the 80s. I've looked up old highlights of the Germans, but that is about it.

Obviously, he wasn't a classy guy. That appears to be the criteria with Pool Boy.

What the fuck does "being good for the community" mean and how do you quantify that one
  • SteveInShelton
    SteveInShelton Member Posts: 1,611
Which coaches aren't good for the community? Is there a program that exclusively recruits serial rapists that go around raping people on campus? That wouldn't be good for the community. Jerry Sandusky probably wasn't good for the community.

The vast majority of coaches don't break the law, pay taxes, and maybe donate to charities. Romar isn't doing anything special in this regard.
