Amazing news.

Rumors are it will disregard the terrible Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection as noncanonical and will pick up after James Cameron's 1986 Aliens. Which means: Ripley, Hicks, and Newt are still alive.
Aliens is my favorite movie of all time and Alien 3 my most hated movie ever, so this is unbelievably awesome news for me. I also really like Blomkamp as a director. This will also stand alone from the awful Prometheus stuff.

District 9 was a great movie. I don't typically like Sci fi either.

District 9 was incredible. I really hope that story gets continued, but I can't imagine it topping the original.
I liked Prometheus. I walked into it with zero expectation and believe it fulfilled its duty as an entertaining offshoot. -
Confirmed it will take place after James Cameron's Aliens and ignore the other movies.

Will Segourney Weaver's reconstructed breasts be displayed? Asking for a friend.
