"For his actions, Golsteyn was awarded the Silver Star, and was told that the medal would likely be upgraded to the Distinguished Service Cross (the Army’s equivalent of the Navy Cross, and second only to the Medal of Honor) after review by the Secretary of the Army. I can confirm that this was true because I was present at the ceremony where Golsteyn received his Silver Star, and personally overheard Lieutenant General John Mulholland, then the commander of the Army’s Special Operation’s Command, say that an upgrade was under consideration." I read it.

Sounds like the guy who got the Silver Star was teh subject of a criminal investigation which found that he engaged in some wrongdoing (like extrajudicial killing bad). It's possible that no more serious action was taken against him precisely because of his combat heroism. It is unusual for an award to be revoked, and when it is - usually due to the derogatory information relating to the meritorious or valorous event which led to the award in the first place.

And Obama had nothing to do with this - everything in the article was talking about the SecArmy.

Also, two seconds of Google uncovered this:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/checkpoint/wp/2015/02/06/cia-job-interview-led-to-criminal-investigation-of-green-beret/
Maj. Mathew L. Golsteyn was investigated by the Army Criminal Investigation Command for an undisclosed violation of the U.S. military’s rules of engagement in 2010 that resulted in the death of a known enemy fighter and bombmaker in Helmand province, Afghanistan, according to the officials. The Army closed a lengthy investigation last summer without charging Golsteyn with any crime, but Army Secretary John McHugh revoked a Silver Star that Golsteyn had been awarded for heroism on Feb. 20, 2010, during the iconic Battle of Marja.

Wtf???? It's Obama's fault. Just ask death, he'll tell you. Everything is Obama's fault. Even global cooling. Cause Obama won't approve the keystone pipeline we can't burn as much fossil fuels as we want, which is actually cooling the earth.
