Good to see he had a successful career under Sark

Wow USC attrition is an absolute dumpster fire... clearly roster management is one of Sark's strengths.
-
But why is Sark a shitty coach?
-
I always feel bad for USC guys on the fringe like Johnson. I bet he was pushed out, but the problem is scholarships should be binding for 4 years.
Let's say you get into SC full ride, come to the conclusion you'll be a role player at best, enjoy the academic aspect/college life whatever, and then are asked to leave bc the coach wants his schollie back. Now you're on the hook for the 50k plus per if you want to stay, but have the skills to get a free ride elsewhere. -
Or more appropriately could probably play at the PAC level for at least a third of the schools ...Doogles said:I always feel bad for USC guys on the fringe like Johnson. I bet he was pushed out, but the problem is scholarships should be binding for 4 years.

Seven's churn through classes at USC will ultimately rival what Pepsi put together in the survey ... and THAT more than just about anything else will be the downfall of Seven at USC and why he'll fail to hit the high marks people project for him. -

I feel sorry for Johnson in that he was born stupid enough to think that Sark was going to want him at USC. Other than that, fuck him. Unless he comes here, then I love him.Doogles said:I always feel bad for USC guys on the fringe like Johnson. I bet he was pushed out, but the problem is scholarships should be binding for 4 years.

Sucks that the kid made a dumb decision, but at least he has figured it out and is going to a JUCO before it's too late.
Wonder if we'll see that QB Greene do the same thing soon. -
This probably happens more in basketball than anything else. Remember when Hans Gasser was given the ultimatum walk-on or transfer? Lucky for him he was in-state and had parents willing to pay for his final year. Imagine if he was from a family at or below the poverty line with 2 years left to graduate, now he has to decide if he abandons ship or takes out 6 figs in loans to complete the dream.doogsinparadise said:

The NCAA, as hurt and greedy as their image is, should give every signed athlete a minimum 4 years of scholarship money if they sign out of high school. As long as the player does their part it should be acknowledged, if he sucks then that's on the coach for taking him. If the coach wants to run him against his will, the school or NCAA should pick up the remaining tab as long as he's enrolled full time.
This would actually put a premium on coaches like Pete or Chip who evaluate and make an offer mean something vs. a guy like Sark who sprays offers around like Peter North. -
That's a pretty good example. Most of these kids don't have families that can afford 25k-50k per year, or the wherewithal to get someone to make an investment in their future, which the NCAA exploits. But keep telling everyone that's it's all about the edumacation.Doogles said:

I could have sworn USC led the charge in 4 year scholarship offers.

Please don't compare anything about Sark to a real hero. Peter North has skill and talent and ejaculated his way to the top of his field. Sark is the guy telling all his co stars he has cumshots bigger and longer than Peter North when he can't even get hard or barely sprays his co stars.Doogles said:

Why not? I'd be livid if I were a Coug after year 3. One of the problems with Leech and some of the hardcore cuogzz I know is that he's sucked, but still given them some of the wins they crave: @USC, Sark's meltdown, @OSU, nice comeback against Utah, etc.beelzebub said:

This is coming within the next two years, maybe potentially for this upcoming season even.Doogles said:

The NCAA just had their first Power Five autonomy conference a few days ago, scholarships with a guarantee to not cut for athletic under-performance was passed in the meeting. It would not shock me if schools around the country were changing their scholarship offer philosophy, it's a pretty big deal.
Also passed was full cost of attendance covered in the scholarships, this is a big additional costs for a lot of schools and I am not sure how a school like WSU will pay for it, but oh well. -
Agree Beez. Sark just signed the best WR class in the country. Attrition like this has been happening at SC for decades. Rasheed's dumbass chose to go there, and he's choosing to leavebeelzebub said:Is there anything u scumbags won't blame Sark for?!

Tequilla, when you recruit #1 classes, which Sark will do yearly at SC, thats kind of the n a me of the game. Kids learn this quickly. No hard feelings. They see in practice every day that they arent good enough so they transfer, or stay in school with the new 4-year rule.Tequilla said:

Why is Sark the bad guy? Should he give the kid the Rudy treatment and put him in on the last play of the 4th quarter? This is college football '15, and it happens at EVERY major school. Get off your 1969 flashback you old geeztard. Fuckall! -

Pete did this at SC the entire time he was there...didn't redshirt anyone got a look at them under fire as freshmen and Sophs and if you couldn't play or weren't going to be all conference it was next man up,usually a 5 star freshmen.
Saban does this at Alabama,Meyer said he doesn't want to redshirt anyone needs them to play or move along.
We still have people thinking Petermen is going to redshirt and develop his way to the Rose Bowl LOL that tried and true method went out the door about the same time DJ walked away.
Built for life or built for the NFL? Who you think is going to win more games over the next 5 years? -
Newsflash, UW isn't in the same tier as USC, Alabama or Ohio State. The athletes they recruits are a different tier than the athletes we recruit.devildawg said:Pete did this at SC the entire time he was there...didn't redshirt anyone got a look at them under fire as freshmen and Sophs and if you couldn't play or weren't going to be all conference it was next man up,usually a 5 star freshmen.

We tried the plug-and-play method at UW. It was Sark's 5 years here. Pretty much everyone that contributed under Sark and Petersen's first year played as a freshman: Sankey, ASJ, Kasen, Shaq, Danny, Haouli, Feeney, Timu, Parker, Peters, Ross, Hatchie, Riva, A.Hudson etc. Everyone that didn't got a 1 or a 0. Sark saw Pete's style and thought he could replicate it at UW. It kinda sorta worked, but he had no clue how to develop players which is why the team was so biploar between the good players and whoever was the best of the rest.
If Petersen wants UW to get to the Rose Bowl, he'll need to recruit the plug-and-play players that UW is able to recruit and he needs to develop everyone else. You can't have a successful football team when only 50% of the players on the field are talented/good. -
Newsflash,it's not just SC,Ohio St.,Alabama that deal with attrition just the best examples of how it's done these days.....the top programs in the country bring in 25 a year almost every year,do the math!
25 in 25 out every year is the goal, you have to play freshmen and dump a few non players that won't ever play....unless you want a program thats inconsistent and wins big win the stars align every 5-6 years
Plug n plays and develping what you have is obvious....so is attrition -
Michigan state, Wisconsin, boise state, tcu, georgia, missiouri, louisiville, Baylor , oregon all approve your message. So many freshman litter their 2 deeps.devildawg said:Newsflash,it's not just SC,Ohio St.,Alabama that deal with attrition just the best examples of how it's done these days.....the top programs in the country bring in 25 a year almost every year,do the math!

It's proven that building a deep team is the way to prevent lulls. Especially in the trenches. But why let facts get in your way -
You are mostly wrong and the stuff you are right about are generalities. Players buried on the bench transfer at every school. Obviously a few of them are inevitable. It's also a little different when you are Alabama or Ohio State and almost your entire class is 4 and 5 star guys that every school in the country want.devildawg said:Newsflash,it's not just SC,Ohio St.,Alabama that deal with attrition just the best examples of how it's done these days.....the top programs in the country bring in 25 a year almost every year,do the math!

Talented freshman should play right away. That will continue under Petersen as we saw with Budda, Sidney Jones, and Pettis. Nobody is crying over Kikaha, Shelton, Shaq, Kasen, ASJ, Sankey, etc playing right away. You are a moron if you don't think the program would have been better off having Kevin Smith, Ducre, Tokalahi, and others redshirt.
Like @whatshouldicareabout posted, you can't have 50% of the class contribute and the other half do nothing. You need to develop depth. A 23 year old lineman is typically better than an 18 year old. Some guys are going to play three years and go to the NFL. Others should redshirt and start contributing a little later in their careers. The DJ method may be dated as players don't redshirt like they used to, but there needs to be a balance.
Sark recklessly played some guys. Only a fool would say we couldn't have used Greg Ducre and Kevin Smith last year. Having Tokalahi in 2013 would have been nice. -
In year 3, Paul Wulff finished 10th in the Pac-12 conference. In year 3, Mike Leach finished tied for 10th in the Pac-12 conference... with over a $10 million rise in the Coug AD annual budget deficit.beelzebub said:

"somebody" is believing the Bull Moos bullshit. -
Yep and as the Dawgfather said, the best time to play freshmen and sophomores are when they are juniors and seniors.
Obviously there are exceptions to that rule but guys are less likely to get hurt or overwhelmed if they redshirt and then are back-ups for a year or two.RoadDawg55 said:
