A qb can have the ability to be both a pocket passer and a runner (see Mariota). Unfortunately last year we had a qb who had no pocket awareness and ran like a gangly Frankenstein's monster when he did decide to take off.

The frustrating thing is Miles has good straight away speed but no pocket awareness as you said.

And his first step takes forever, but when he gets running he's fast

I hear that he is pretty quick to run away from a bonfire fight, directly behind his WR friend.

Lots of confusion here between taking off and running at the first opportunity and having the ability to run and using that to your advantage.

You want a QB that is able to extend plays with their legs and will hurt you first with his arm and second with his legs.

All a QB that tucks and runs as soon as possible will succeed in is taking massive shots that he doesn't need to.

In college guys that run early and can't read a defense can succeed and even lead their team to a championship. Miles sucks at running and sucks in the pocket. That is the problem.

A lot of college offenses are two read and go's. The QB goes through two progressions, and either hits the check down or takes off. Petersen's offense isn't like that. He could adapt, but his offense isn't geared for mobile QB's compared to many others.

I would guess Miles runs a 4.8 40, so if that's fast then so be it.

As to Fink — he looks good. Not as good as Eason, but Eason is a 5-star guy. Fink looks like a low 4-star, high 3-star kid to me.

He was listed with a 4.43 coming out of high school.

Of course, HS 40 times are as reliable as Ektard recruiting blogs, but I'd guess his 40 is in the 4.65 range. Which is well above average for a QB.

And about two tenths faster than Coleman (low tweak!)
