If Sark's recruits hate Pease then he's actually doing something right not that he's a good coach so don't twist.

Our offense is so retarded that only way I can describe it is East-West.

    God I hate our team.

Just going to relay some rumors that my friend heard from his source within the program.

-Kendyl Taylor is planning to transfer
-Jaydon Mickens is considering transferring. Apparently he hates Brent Pease, along with all of the other receivers.
-No one has any faith in Jonathan Smith's playcalling abilities.
-Troy Williams was demoted to third string the week of the UCLA game but didn't find out until gametime. Coach Smith was supposed to have a sit down with him but he was too much of a pussy to have the talk.
-Nuss was the backup plan in case Petersen didn't accept the job. Until it was official, there was apprehension within the athletic department that Petersen would get cold feet so they had a separate press release planned to announce Nuss as the new coach just in case.

No names on it, just heard as many as seven. I had Williams and Taylor as guesses along with: Fuavai, O'Brien, Hall, Turpin, Ajamu. I could see as many as 9 leaving before the year I think, pretty easily.

Interesting comparing the great purge of Texas to our potential mass exodus.

Charlie did it at the beginning and it cost him dearly. Petersen's is potentially happening at the end and I wonder if that hurts the turnaround a little more.

I say good riddance to dead weight, the culture shock between Sark to Pete couldn't be any greater.

God have mercy on our unholy and black souls if Nuss was the auto fucking backup plan.

so I get that everyone was excited when we hired Petersen, but Petersen wanted THIS job... if it was a true coaching search, this is why I have zero faith in Woody as the AD. Woody is a disaster in my opinion.

well, we know how red and yellow the purple and gold Sark instilled in his players was. #FightOn

My thoughts on the weekend (really the season) is that we are fucking Cal with a better defense and no quarterback, or Utah with a worse record. Either way Petersen needs to nut the fuck up and prove why it was warranted that we changed out our sweatpants when he was hired in the first place. I'm still a believer, just keep cleaning out those fucking pussies who don't belong in purple and gold and keep bringing in those that do (like Pettis although he kind of dropped off, FO).

The entire offensive staff sounds like a mess...wouldn't have guessed that after the past season or seeing any of those video interviews with Jonathon Smith on the web.

Peterman...you have a large budget. Feel free to use it.

One more rumor that I forgot to list is that Jordan PaoPao is unhappy and wants to leave the staff. He was abandoned by Sark and doesn't mesh well with Pete's staff.

PowPow is a dude brah if there ever was one. Kill 'em all! Kill 'em all!

I'm not really concerned. Jonathan Smith is not a great play caller, but I can't exactly diagnose what is going on with that right now. If everything is face-value, he should be raped by Brent Pease while Brent Pease is raped by Jaydon Mickens' 2-inches of thunder.

The offense this year was fucking awful.

That said, I think we are committed to building from the ground up.

    We shall see.

I'm on the fence about whether we should be mean or nice to Sark's players. I can see arguments both ways. I think, ultimately, they are mentally weak pieces of shit who wouldn't have been able to win any important game this year or any other year... so I think it's good that we are burning the fucking thing to the ground; but at the same time, you don't want a totally toxic environment.

But maybe you do. Either way it'll be interesting, obviously.

I can tell you this, though. I trust Pete a lot fucking more than I do Sark.

Those are my thoughts exactly. I have been of the opinion that if we're going to blame someone for the offensive woes it should be Petersen and not Smith, because I figured it's hard to tell the first year whose fingerprints are on what. And players do a lot of extra thinking during the first year adjustment with a new offensive coordinator.

But on the other hand, the whole offense was so awful to watch. The only real dynamic innovation was to bring Shaq over to play tailback for 2-3 weeks. The lack of feel and creativity with the playcalling was alarming. And these rumors and tidbits about the players not respecting Smith, it's just been a shit show overall.

So for now all we can do is watch Petersen over the next few months and look for signs of more internal change.
You are thinking about Jonathon Smith getting by Brent Pease while Jaydon Mickens pounds Pease with his two inches of thunder?

I would have no issues with PaoPao getting axed but I feel like that isn't something Pete would do after only one season. Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll leave on his own.

My wet dream scenario is to fire Smith and get a new OC. Firing Paopao is the next best, and probably more likely scenario. It's probably still very unlikely. Let a GA and Pease/Strausser coach the TE's and bring in a new OC. Demote Smith to QB coach.

If they were going to fire coaches I'd think they would have done so already wouldn't they? I never really understood why they kept Paopao, was he just the least dude brah of the old staff?

I heard that the younger big swinging dicks loved Sark and wanted Nuss to be coach because of the social benefits.

    Players, AD staff, boosters?
Boosters…like the guys who are late 30s early 40s. Young hedge fund assholes and the like.

Hard to completely know what is going to happen with the coaching side of things.

There are a lot of red flags on Pease. But at the same time, I think that there's also some truth to having at least one hard ass coach on your staff. You need someone to turn over the tables when they need to be turned over. And let's also be honest, WR is probably the most diva position on the field ... so if you aren't prepared to be coached by a demanding hard ass, you probably aren't going to like it. As for Jared Lorenzen, his opinion is worth something ... but when you look at what he's morphed into, it's hard to take him 100% seriously.

I disagree with the innovation from Smith. There were plenty of examples of there being some trick plays (WR throws, reverses, etc.) that worked very well this year. There are some small nuanced things that I would recommend that he incorporates more with an average at best OL this (and most likely next year as well) with more north/south running that promotes drive blocking instead of running to the outside that exposes some of the weaknesses of the OL. Ideally with a QB like Miley you'd have more under the center and a play action game that promotes more easy throws that have a chance to get guys into more strength (particularly when you consider that Perkins and Daniels were probably two of your better receiving options). But that being said, having a QB like Miley would make any play caller look challenged at times.
