So Bob Stoops punts with 30 seconds left

The lesson as always is
Don't fucking fumble

Logical fallacy, but OK.
To clarify, just because Okie ran back a kick doesn't mean Peterman didn't fuck up the end of game sequence. One isn't predictive of the other. -
Except in UW's case there would've been 5 seconds left on 4th down at worst
-
Wow. Sooners finish 5-7.
-
45 secs left on the clock.
Game tied.
92 yd punt returns are less likely than fumbles.
Other than those points, you are spot on.
Oh, and I am sure we don't have enough TALENT to cover punts with less than 10 secs left. -
2nd hand, I didn't see it, but sounds like it was more fucktarded than just that. UO punted to the 15, the punter was run into, not enough for a 1st down, and Stoops punted again. That was then run back.
If that is wrong, fuck off, but my Oklahoma buddy told me so it must be true -
A lot of miserable people here. I feel sorry for your families
A 95 yard return only needs 1 second at the snap. Pretty sure OU had plenty of talent out there -
As this pertains to the UW @ Arizona game, people assume at least 5 things:
1. That the snap would be on target (Huskies were only up by 2 because of a botched PAT snap earlier in the game).
2. The punter would catch it cleanly (our punter dropped the ball against ASU a few games earlier).
3. The punt would not be blocked.
4. The returner would not return it for a TD.IrishDawg22 said:45 secs left on the clock.

I'd argue that Stoops did the right thing in punting it again as the play would bleed another 5-10 seconds off of the clock against an Okie Lite team that had no timeouts.Alexis said:2nd hand, I didn't see it, but sounds like it was more fucktarded than just that. The coaches can do the right things ... but the players still need to execute. -

It's OK to criticize the coaches but if you're critical you'll be gone

Okie state was inches from blocking the first punt (which led to the running into the kicker penalty). Bob Stoops was FS to punt it again. Anybody watching it live knew something bad was going to happen with a re-kick.
The real asshole in that whole end of regulation was the gunner who assumed the returner was was going to let the ball go to the end zone and ran himself out of the play to try to down the punt. -
So Petersen didnt want to punt once, but Stoops wanted to punt TWICE? (After almost getting the first one blocked, no less)
Sounds like someone should meet him at the tarmac... -
Can we talk about Art Briles running the ball last week that would have left just a couple seconds left if he punted? What a dumb fuck.
-
I believe that after the penalty it was 4th and less than 5 ... which made it far less likely that Okie Lite would have come after the punt as any penalty would have ended the game.
You should have the expectation that you can get a punt off without it being blocked. -
After the penalty it was 4th and 9. Sure you should have that expectation, but if you already have the team pinned inside their own 20 with less than a minute left and a freshman quarterback, why tempt fate by punting again?
-
I've lost all respect for Stoops.

It's obvious they have different charts.BayDawg said:So Petersen didnt want to punt once, but Stoops wanted to punt TWICE? (After almost getting the first one blocked, no less)
