He's 100% right.

other than a slightly snooty headline, the article is spot on.

Where was this vitriol when Petersen made the same call in the same situation to ice the Hawai'i game in August? Three-knees-and-a-punt is an incomprehensibly moronic strategy. Nobody fucking does that. Any coach who does should be fired at the fifty yard line. No warning, just gone.

there was 1:33 left with 6 seconds on the play clock when the clock was snapped. If you are on top of things the ball wouldn't have been snapped at that point. you can take extended knees to ensure you don't have to punt.TTJ said:Where was this vitriol when Petersen made the same call in the same situation to ice the Hawai'i game in August? And then on top of it, not calling the timeout with 35 ticks left.

What are extended knees? Is that where their knee grows?dhdawg said:

TTJ, I think you are being sensitive. In the article, Stone says he expects Petersen to do big things at Washington.
In regards to his press conference, it makes no difference if Petersen admitted his error. It doesn't change anything about the game or the future. I don't get why anyone would even care. -
They definitely could have tried that. I wouldn't put it past Miley to get scared and fuck up though either. Never rule that out.

You're defeating your own argument. This isn't fucking Madden. There is a huge human element to this that you can't control and have to adjust for. Miles, the same QB you assume is gonna squeeze every millisecond out of each playclock, snapped it 6 seconds too early on first down. Tanigawa is still your center. Maisel is still your longsnapper. Every exchange in this game was fraught. I'm glad Peterman has more situational awareness than you do.dhdawg said:snap, take a couple steps back and go down

Why does nobody mention AZ had an unused timeout when they re-run this "obvious" coaching situation over and over in their feeble little minds?

The only problem with holding at a few seconds and backing away is you keep giving them better field position. Do that 3 times you might burn an extra 6 seconds, but you've lost almost ten yards. Not to mention the chances of miley just dropping the football.

So now you blame Miles? Just a few weeks ago his dick was in your mouth. -
No matter why you do, Miley is going to need to take the snap. He could botch a fumble just a easily as botch an extended knee.Doogles said:The only problem with holding at a few seconds and backing away is you keep giving them better field position. Ho. Lee. Fucking Shit boys.
There is not one coach ... not one ... who would not have ran his running back up the gunt in that very scenario.
Not calling time out with 35+ seconds on the clock ... that is sketchy. However, he had two time outs left and I can see his point to save those to ice the kicker. Don't get it ... but see it.
Lastly ... he may have told his guy to not snap it til it got below 5 seconds, but do you believe this guy understands:
