Strip the med school away (since the State of Oregon did that with OHSU in the 70's) and UO and UA are close to the same in research funding. Also too, UO has a bigger endowment, fewer students, and a slightly lower acceptance rate and slightly higer SAT scores. Doesn't matter, both schools are mid-range academically. The only schools in the Pac-12 that can crow about their academics are Stanford, the UCs, and maybe USC (they cheat though).
