I am officially done buying tickets from the UW for away games......

Add in for thought. For our trip to Cal game the UW wanted 80.00 per seat (x2: 160.00). Instead we opted to buy on game day at Cal from a scalper. On our trip we also went to two other games and bought great seats for Friday's WSU/Stanford (Pair 50.00); Saturday's UW/Cal (pair 50.00) and Sunday's Chargers/Raiders (pair 50.00) for a net savings of 10.00.
Stadiums never sellout anymore (except for Oregon's cute little stadium). So why not buy off the street and save the coin. I buy tacos in Mexico off the street, and some of you buy sex that way. It hasn't killed us yet.

I stopped buying away tickets from UW in 2003. I was at OSU in the endzone first row with the band standing in front of me. I had to find 4 open seats higher up and move. I could see zero of the field. Only the back of a tuba player. Since then I have waited until the week of the game or game day. Always get great seats at a good price. At Asu in 2008 I walked up to the box office 30 minutes before the game and bought 200 level seats on the 45 yard line for $35. Same with bowl games.

Stop buying tickets from UW altogether then pop off.
-
I paid $8.00 each for tix to the Furd v. WSU and $26.00 each to UW v. CAL .
Being a good soldier doesn't pay.
I hear you can also buy poor quality weed on the Ave next to 7-11.

only bleenor buys tickets direct, and that's b/c he knows somebody DUH
-
What about for home games? I finally decided to catch a game in the new stadium (haven't been for a couple of years) and scanned craigslist for a pair of tickets. I arranged to meet a guy on QA Hill and when I got there the dude just looked shady and acted sketchy, and the tickets were printed on his printer... so I declined.
I was tempted to buy tix from the UW office just to make sure I'm not getting counterfeits but damn they are asking a lot of coin for 2 tickets.
I'm gonna try craigslist again, see if I can find somebody in Kirkland or Bellevue, those seem like less sketchy areas. -
Visitor sections always suck. And they gouge you on the price.
But for me, there's still something to be said for being surrounded by likeminded fans. And the median IQ seems slightly higher in UW "away" crowds than UW "home" crowds. -
In the 1980s I remember Husky fans taking over Autzen Stadium. Announced attendance would be 42,000, and there would be 12-15,000 Husky fans there.TTJ said:Visitor sections always suck. And they gouge you on the price.

With ticket barcode scanning and home printing, you really have to have faith in a scalper these days.

I go the StubHub route and most times save a lot. Print from home and away I go. Away tickets bought through universities almost always suck, with USC being the worst.
-
The away tickets for Arizona are in the upper deck (I got the last row), but at least I got a section reasonably close to midfield compared to most away game locations where they often send you in the worst row and worst section.
Arizona's stadium isn't particularly big at 55k seats, so I don't expect the seats to be that bad.
When I went to the Oklahoma-TCU game this year, I had seats towards the top of the stadium and they were definitely fine - similar sized stadium.
Whiskey - what section are you in? -
I found a ticket on the ground as I was scalping for that 2003 OSU game. I was pretty stoked about that.MikeDamone said:I stopped buying away tickets from UW in 2003. Wow, I must be kind of a high roller. I'm 7 rows in front of Whiskeydawg, and 8 rows in front of Tequilla.
yeah, I'm kind of a big deal apparently. -

Depends on what section you are in.Alexis said:Wow, I must be kind of a high roller. I'm 7 rows in front of Whiskeydawg, and 8 rows in front of Tequilla.

What I've learned about buying away game tickets from the UW is that they start with the best seats, go upwards and then over a section. Personally, I'd trade seats at the 30 for seats at the end zone for if it was lower and closer to the action.
Easy to arrange that for home games ... for road games you just take what you can get, find a bar before the game, throw a few back, and enjoy sitting in a section of purple. -

I travel to away games more frequently than home games and have only bought away tickets through the UW twice.
Much better luck (location and price wise) buying from the other school directly or buying scalped tickets.
Plus, its a bunch more fun to be among opposing fans - even during the dark years. -
No racist crap

What happened to that banner ad that told me where I can get cheap Huskie tickets? Now what will I do?

One time I had to sit away from a couple of friends in AZ Stadium. It was a total blowout so I moved to the visitor section to talk to them in the 4th after it was long over. The stadium was almost half full at that point anyway. I sat down in some empty seat. A few minutes later some guy behind makes some real passive aggressive sarkastic comment to the effect that I was sitting in the seat his elderly mother used as her footrest (so what the fuck did they do when other people sat there earlier?). I moved a little but made a really sarcastic remark to him. He seemed like what TucsonHusky or Sucktion14a would be like in real life.
The visitor section seems like it's some mix of middle aged Doogs and blue hairs. I'm probably not going this time around after three straight Tucson plungerings unless there's a really good deal out there. -
