But how is David Shaw a bad coach? (deserves own thread)

Stanford has held ball for 10+ min in 3rd quarter but only 3 points

The red zone is the Bermuda Triangle for Stanford.

His teams play hard, disciplined football.

His gameday decisions and calls on the field are mind-blowingly bad

They played that way before he was hired

And the majority of his players never spent a day on campus with Harbaugh, let alone actually played under him.

It's Shaw's team, for better or for worse.

    4 losses is worse

    No argument

They didn't play any better than UW tonight

    Agreed.

It was his team last year too.

The only thing Shaw seems to excel at is bitching to the officials about calls that don't go his way. I heard about 5 minutes of the game on the radio this evening, while I was driving home. The announcers talked about Shaw giving the umpire an earful. The guy is a giner.

Harbaugh built a bit of a monster there. The identity, culture and that kind of intangible bullshit, not to mention recruiting, is all feeding off of what he created. Shaw is good enough that it's not like stepping off a cliff, but you can see it eroding.
