Yes, the B1G and SEC are clearly ahead of the other two power conferences. But trying to argue that the B1G is heads and shoulders ahead of the SEC…eh, not seeing it. SEC has much more depth, IMO.

Yes, B1G with huge wins against (checks list):
- Boise CC
- James Madison
- New Mexico
- Central Michigan
- Corpse known as Clemson
-
Vandy and Rocky top were ESPN playoff darlings all year and they got humbled by the teams around UW in the B1G standings
-
Tennessee lost to every ranked team that they played. Not sure where you're coming up with this about them.
-
They were ranked in the top 15 for most of the year and stayed in the top 20 when they and UW were both 8-3
-
I'm not buying that Illinois beating them by 2 is some kind of statement win. Two middling schools.

Fair to say that the SEC isn't the SEC when both LSU and Florida are bad. Not that they need to be elite but they're actually bad and those are two programs that typically bolster the legitimacy of the conference in years when they're not otherwise making a run. We all knew Vandy was an illusion. Sark hasn't made the SEC any scarier. Oklahoma added some heft and gets on base a lot but isn't a killer. There's no doubt that the conference has a lot of programs who, when they have things going even kinda right, make for a lot of depth. But those two sucking ass is a bellwether.

SEC is not that good this year. Ole Miss is the best they have this year, and as @creepycoug points out LSU and Florida suck. Bama is also a four loss team that has been plungered by FSU and Georgia and triple plungered by Indiana. Bellwether's everywhere.
