I dealt with the athletic department in unique ways and formed (as the years wore on) an increasingly antagonistic relationship with them. I have seen how the sausage is made. I witnessed how winning wasn't the highest priority. I saw people sell out and sell me out just to curry favor with the athletic department. It soured my outlook and sapped some of the joy from the experience. That plays a role in it too

I get the feeling @haie is making a slightly different point than the one being argued right now and will perhaps clarify when he returns - seems to be taking the day off. He's a committed dude but not anything in the vicinity of dooging pollyana, so I don't think that's the comparison.
The age old question about @haie is whether he hates the Ducks more than he loves the Dwags. It's a legitimate question and even he may not know the answer. @HuskyJW definitely hates Oregon more than he loves Washington, but since his implosion in the Tug he's not been the same. Sorry JW - I love ya man, but that was a rough summer.
